Short description of the Institute's activity    Institute of Macromolecular Chemistry (IMC) is a leading scientific center of Ukraine for development and investigation of different polymers, composites and related materials. It was founded in 1958 (before 1964 - Institute of Chemistry of Polymers and Monomers).    The institute undertakes researches in the several key areas of polymer science-fundamental aspects of polymer chemistry, chemistry and physic-chemistry of polymer composite materials, technology of functional polymers and composites on their base, creation of the theoretical base for modification of polymer materials and researches in the polymers for medical applications.

IMC has long-term experience in elaborating:

• Synthesis of polyurethanes with functional groups in organic and aqueous mediums;
• Bianchor surface active substances (water soluble) of oligomeric type
• Optically transparent materials for different purposes (photocuring coatings, UV-glues, adhesives, polymeric active and passive elements, hybrid binders)
• Synthesis of a new bifunctional initiators for photopolymerization
• Liquid rubbers with functional terminated groups for antirusting protection, casting compositions, coatings
• Thermoplastic and thermoreactive polyurethane powder for anticorrosion and insulating coatings, binders and adhesives
• Heat resistance polyurethanes
• Chemistry and technology of film-forming cross-linked polymers made of highly concentrated oligomeric, oligomer-polymeric systems
• New carbofunctional silicon oligomers and monomers with hydroxyl and isocyanate groups
• Creation multi-component polymeric binders on the principle of interpenetrating polymer networks
• Development of adhesive polymeric materials for oil and gas industry, ship repairing, mineral resources mining
• Electric- and heat-conductive adhesives, film gradient adhesives with two different surfaces
