The Department was formed in 1965. Before 1998 the Department was headed by Doctor of Sciences, Professor S.I. Omelchenko. In 1998 after unification with the Laboratory of polyurethane synthesis the Department was headed by Doctor of Sciences, Professor V.V. Shevchenko.
In the Department 2 doctor and 20 candidate dissertations were defended, 4 monographs and about 800 articles were published, over 200 author’s certificates and patents were received, the State Prize in the field of science and engineering was awarded in 1981.
