Department of Polymer Composites was established in 1982 on the basis of the Laboratory of Polymer Mixtures detached from the Polymer Physical Chemistry Department in 1980. Doctor of Chemical Science, Professor, Member of NAS of Ukraine, Honored Worker of Science and Engineering of Ukraine Å. V. Låbådåv is a head of the Department.
20 employees, among them 6 candidates of science and 2 doctors of science, work in the Department now. 20 employees, among them 6 candidates of science and 2 doctors of science, work in the Department now. The different usage composites were worked out in the Department on the basis of the obtained thorough knowledge of both polymer and polymer composites (filled with various fillers and modified with different additives) structure formation. The principal basis for creating the organic – inorganic polymer systems containing inorganic oligomers was developed in the Department. The developed polymer composites can be produced in the experimental-industrial factory of IMC.
Main directions of activity
n Development of the principal basis of creation of organic – inorganic polymer system based on the inorganic nature oligomer.
n Creation of the scientific conception of formation of polyurethane having Si, P, Al, Cr containing blocks in the polymer matrix and determination of the method to control properties of such composite and materials.
n Synthesis and formation rules study of the Al, P containing epoxy – inorganic polymer system to obtain technical epoxy materials.
n Synthesis and formation rules study of the oligomer – oligomer and oligomer – polymer mixtures. Method uses joining up synthetic and physical-and-chemical approach to solve the problem of creation of the elastic adhesives for different application.
n Study of the phase separation process and adhesive structure formation depending on the initial components chemical nature used for synthesis. Study of the glue composition adhesive properties depending on the phase separation process and resulting micro and macro structure. Determination of the rates ratio of the hardening reaction and phase separation processes, which come simultaneously.
n Study of the electrical properties of the polymer composites based on the thermosetting materials and thermoplastics with dispersed fillers (carbon black, graphite, dispersed metals), study electrical characteristics of the organic – inorganic systems.
n Study of the adhesive and physical-and-mechanical properties of the polymer composites based on the oligomer – oligomer, oligomer – polymer mixtures and organic – inorganic polymer systems.
n Glue technologies development for using created adhesives in industry needs.
