Department of Interpenetrating Polymer Networks and Systems

General Info History Elaborations References

Scientific progress of Department

   Interpenetrating polymer networks (IPNs) have been synthesised of different types: ionomer-containing, thermoplastic, and gradient.

   The new IPN formation mechanism concept has been developed on the base of analyse of simultaneous proceeding two processes: three-dimension structure formation and microphase separation that leads to the formation of nonequilibrium systems having a different degree of component segregation. Approach have been developed of controlled regulation both structures and properties of IPNs by means of changing the formation rates of IPN components and introducing the filers of different nature as well.

   On the base of fundamental science results the following materials were developed:

  1. Transparent polymers for production of impact resistance articles used in construction optic and optical instrument-making industry;
  2. Waterproofing compound for surface weatherproofing of ferroconcrete items;
  3. Polymer compositions for laser radiation filters of 1,06 mm wave length which drop the penetrating radiation by five orders.

    The above-stated developments are offered for embodying to the interested plants in the shape of mutually advantageous cooperation.

Perspective research activities

   The Department has propositions on the following applied creations of different readiness levels for implementation into industry:

  1. RECYCLING TECHNIQUE OF WASTE POLYURETHANE FOAM AND PRODUCING THE POLYMER MATERIALS BASED ON THEM.

  2. TECHNIQUE OF PRODUCTION OF POLYURETHANE GLUE COMPOSITION FOR USING IN SHOE INDUSTRY.

  3. PHOTOPOLYMER MATERIALS FOR PRINTING PRODUCTION AND ELECTRONICS.

  4. POLYURETHANE COMPOSITE MATERIALS FOR PRODUCING ADHESIVES, COATINGS AND IMITATION LEATHER BY USING ENVIRONMENTALLY APPROPRIATE TECHNOLOGY.

  5. PHOTOPOLYMER VARNISHES, PAINTS, AND GLUES.

  6. CORROSION-RESISTANT POLYURETHANE COAT.

  7. PRODUCING THE POWDER THERMOPLASTIC POLYURETHANE BY WATER-SUSPENSION METHOD.
