  Chemists. Yu.S. Lipatov was born on the 10th of July, 1927 in Ivanovo-Voznesensk. He graduated from the Moscow oil institute (1949), post-graduate study; candidate of chemistry - Ph.D. (1954); Doctor of Chemistry (1963); professor (1964), Corresponding Member of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR; Academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR (1973); Academician of the of the International Academy of Creation; head of laboratory and deputy sciences director of the Institute of Common and Inorganic Chemistry of the Academy of Sciences of the Byelorussian SSR (1959-1964); director of the Institute of the Macromolecular Chemistry of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR (1985); head of Department of Physical chemistry of polymers since 1985.

  Yu.S. Lipatov is the author of more then 1100 scientific papers, 18 monographs on the chemistry, physical chemistry, technology and physics of polymers and polymeric materials. State Award of the Ukrainian SSR, L.V. Pysarzhevsky Award (1979), A.I. Kiprianov Award (1998), Paul Flory Award (1997). Order of the People’s Friendship (1981), Order “For the achievements”, 3-rd degree” (1998). 

   Deputy Editor-in-chief of the Journal of Adhesion, USA (since 1970), Composite Interfaces, USA (since 1993), Journal of Polymer Materials, India (since 1993).
