Department of linear polymer chemistry (initial designation - department of heterochain polymers) was established in 1972 on the basis of laboratory of hydrazine-containing polymers, organized in 1970 in order to resolve the problem connected with utilization of hydrazine and it derivatives.
Before the April 1999 the department had been headed by Doctor of Sciences (Chemistry), Professor, Honored personality of science and technology of Ukraine, A.P. Grekov. Now the department has been chaired by Doctor of Sciences (Chemistry) Yu.V. Savelyev.
2 doctors and 21 bachelors of chemical sciences have been trained in the department.
